Can We Start 2020 Over?

2020 started out great...and then a lot changed....for everyone.

JANUARY and FEBRUARY 2020
Jesse and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary taking a trip down memory lane! We drove up to Flagstaff (where it all began) and visited our favorite spots, ate at our favorite restaurants, drank some delicious beer, and spent time with some good friends!

How is this possible?  Gwen turned 11!  She enjoyed a (supervised) bowling date with her one true love, Everett.  She spent the weekend at Ryan House showered with all kids of special attention from the staff! Uncle Cody's family paid us a quick visit from Washington and Nana and Papa watched 10 grandkids so we could have an adult night out!  In keeping up with our date nights, we had a super fun night out with the Morrison squad!

MARCH and APRIL 2020
Quinten graduated to an orange belt in karate and completed his first reconciliation with his Godmother, Aunt Diana, to cheer him on.  We spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying the glorious weather, Jesse went deep sea fishing in Mexico....and then the Coronavirus hit and quarantine started.

When is the best time to get and train a puppy?  When you are confined to your house unable to leave (of course)!  Meet our newest family member, Kovy.  Quinten started on-line school (which included interactive superhero PE), Maren turned 4 (Oma made her the same princess cake she made me) and in "Maren's World", there is always time for make-up (Yikes)!

EASTER 2020
Due to the Coronavirus, we had to experience all things Easter at home.  We have a wonderful priest who brought Jesus to our front yard Palm Sunday!  Holy Thursday/Maundy Thursday, the kids made unleavened bread to go with our version of the "Last Supper".  After dinner we took turns washing eachother's feet to imitate Christ's selfless love just as he did the night before his Crucifixion.  Good Friday, we observed the Lord's Passion with the kids homeade "Stations of the Cross" (toilet paper rolls, playdoh, and birthday candles).  Sunday we celebrated Jesus and topped it off with an Easter egg hunt!

MAY, JUNE, JULY 2020
The school year came to an end and I needed to come up with a plan to keep this quarantine a little less boring and a lot more exciting.  We decided to go through the Alphabet, a new letter each day.  We actually ended up experiencing quite a few cool things!

AUGUST 2020
Like many parents thrown into "homeschooling" last spring unexpectedly due to the Coronavirus, I can say I did, I can do it, and I can do it again if I need to.  However, Jesse and I decided that when schools were able to safely re-open, we would send the kids back in person.  Gwen started 6th grade, Quinten turned 8 and started 3rd grade, and Maren started Preschool.  Each child attends a different school and I think each of their schools are doing a good job keeping our kids safe.

I can't forget to mention the arrival of our newest nephew, Maverick James! Congratulations Uncle Branden and Aunt Diana, he is so handsome!

PINETOP, ARIZONA and CORONADO, CALIFORNIA 2020
We were able to escape the heat twice this summer!  We took precautions and made sure to follow all of the guidelines to remain safe and healthy.  Both trips were amazing and such a nice escape from being stuck in our house for months!

MISS CASSIE 2020
I cannot say enough about this incredible woman!  She has kept me sane for 6 years!  She works hard to keep Gwen strong and active.  She also helps give Gwen every opportunity to participate so we can do things as a family!  We love your Miss Cassie!!

Eventhough the majority of this year has been a mess, we are so grateful for the good that has come out of this pandemic.  We have spent more time together as a family and less time running around from one activity to the next.  We are so thankful for Jesse's job and we are so grateful that we have remained healthy throughout.  We will continue to keep all those we love and all of those affected by this virus in our prayers as we continue to navigate this "new norm" together.  Stay safe!
